Serving in the Madrid Temple is the focus of our days. We love its quiet beauty. Temple service and aspects of daily life such
as cooking, cleaning, and shopping take most of our time and energy, but we do
find time to do some sight-seeing. Friends from our last mission in Madrid, Ken
and Ruthie Skousen, came to visit for a couple of weeks in mid-May, and
together we revisited many of the places we had enjoyed, and even explored some
new ones--and I didn't find time to share them on the blog.
In June came "close-down," a two week period the temple is closed for maintenance, when temple missionaries are allowed to travel. Greg and I traveled by bus to see three cities we hadn't seen before, and then flew to visit our very pregnant daughter Rebecca and her family in Germany, and I still didn't take time to share it all. Since then she has had her baby, a girl they are naming Darya.
In the meantime we did some fun things with other temple missionaries on our weekly "preparation day," and I kept falling further behind in the blog.
So here's an abbreviated "catch up", with pictures of a visit to Aranjuez, of the Parque del Oeste rose gardens, and the museum at the Spanish National Treasury, just three of the several things we did with Ken and Ruthie, and there is one picture taken in each of the three cities Greg and I visited during close-down.
On Monday I leave Greg in Madrid to continue serving in the temple and I fly back to Germany to help Becca for a week. The Taber and Becca Johnson family with their new baby will get a whole new blog entry after I return.
