still waiting

It has been extremely cold here.  Our poor old house hasn't seemed able to warm up, and neither have we.  There was an icicle growing outside our patio door that reached almost from the eves to the deck, and we wondered which would happen sooner--our visas coming or the icicle breaking.  We have felt a bit like that icicle--frozen in time and space.  Yesterday, Friday, the icicle broke, but by 5:00 p.m. we still had no word about our visas.   Surely next week...

With the record cold, we have had overcast skies and fog.  All outdoors has seemed gray and featureless.  Today the temperature was above freezing, so we walked up along Foothill Blvd.  We could see the mountains across the valley, and a tiny bit of blue sky.  The temple was obscured by fog, but we knew it was still there; our view of God is obscured, but we know He is still there.  This afternoon we attended a temple session in Spanish, and by the time we left the temple fog had enclosed the valley again, but we know that somewhere the sun is shining.
