Here I (Greg) am in front of a slope in the quarry at the top of Providence Canyon. The quarry looms large in the history of Providence - bringing the limestone out for refining sugar beets was probably the main source of hard currency for the men of the city for seventy years. The waterfall is located above the quarry and I hiked up to get a better shot of it (or at least the bottom part of it). We have never seen so much water in Spring Creek in September - usually it is dry.
I have been trying to get in some last bike rides before our mission to Spain. Last Thursday I took the Valley View highway out to Beaver Dam, then down through Honeyville to Brigham. I averaged about 17 miles an hour on that leg. Then I met Monti and we went to eat at a fun old soda fountain - burgers, fries, and a banana split. Perhaps because I overdid the fries, my speed back through the canyon was only about 8 miles per hour. Anyway, the total trip was about 65 miles, and I enjoyed it very much.
We've had some cold nights recently and our zuchini and crookneck squash vines are goners. We've harvested the peaches, pears, apricots, peas, onions, potatoes, and radishes. The beans, tomatoes, beets, carrots, parsnips, peppers, cucumbers, apples and grapes are still growing, although we have harvested a lot of them already.
In any case, the cold nights have meant changing leaves in shades of red, yellow, and orange.

Seeing pictures brings back memories. The leaves are just starting to change here too. It is so nice to have seasons again!
Ok. I suggest Oct 24th for that last bike ride. I'll come up, and you arrange the weather.
